Millennial Quest approached me with the goal of redesigning their existing website, which had become significantly outdated and no longer represented the vibrant and forward-thinking nature of their business. They were seeking a fresh, modern design that incorporated dynamic elements to engage users more effectively. The objective was to transform their online presence to better align with their innovative coaching services and to provide a more intuitive and visually appealing experience for their visitors.

I began the research phase by conducting a competitive analysis. The purpose was to identify common design patterns used by competitors and to analyze aspects I liked and disliked about each site. I analyzed three direct competitors in terms of:

  • Website structure

  • Clarity

  • Ease of use

  • Design and User Interface

  • Reviews

I conducted the SWOT analysis to thoroughly evaluate the current strengths of the business, identify and address any weaknesses, and explore potential opportunities by leveraging competitors' vulnerabilities. This strategic assessment aims to transform these opportunities into the business's most significant strengths, thereby enhancing its competitive edge and positioning the business for greater success.

Sitemap

I developed a sitemap by first defining the website's primary goal and establishing a unique value proposition (UVP) through client interviews and the competitive analysis I conducted at the beginning. I then carried out targeted user research to align the content with the site's objectives. Following this, I created a global navigation to serve as the hierarchical backbone of the sitemap, ensuring all pages were logically connected. This structure allowed for the systematic organization of content into sections based on the navigation, ensuring all material was accessible and well-arranged.

Inspiration board & Moodboard

I spent approximately 30 minutes gathering website inspiration to develop 2-3 moodboards. These boards encapsulate the brand’s intended look and feel, embodying the key descriptors of the brand, and highlighting elements my clients dislike about their competitors. I then presented these mood boards to the client and shared my thoughts.

Option 1 was the winner.

Style Guide

The typography styles were chosen strategically to enhance the brand's identity and user experience. Playfair Display brings elegance and sophistication to titles, reflecting excellence and distinction, while Source Sans Pro ensures readability and modernity, contributing to a harmonious and visually appealing design. These fonts, combined with colors from the moodboard, create a cohesive and professional visual identity across the website.
